What it is
Python libraries that turn a link or text into a QR code. A phone scans it with the camera and opens the right thing at once: a bot, a client profile, a page.
How we use it
qrcode produces the QR card of a gaming-club client: the code opens the bot with the client's number, and for anyone else the link gives nothing. segno draws the QR code on the accident commissioner's card on an insurance policy.
Where a QR code helps a business
- A paper customer card should become a QR code on the phone.
- A document or business card needs a code people can scan with a camera.
- A workstation needs a label that takes an employee straight to the right part of a bot.
How we use it
- A customer card. In a gaming club qrcode produces a personal QR that opens the bot with the customer's number, and the administrator credits a night with one tap.
- A contact on a policy. In the insurance policy bot segno draws the QR code on the accident commissioner's card.
- Workstation labels. In the IT help desk QR labels are printed on an A4 sheet: a scan opens the bot, seats the employee at that desk and offers a ticket from it.
- A contact for the phone. On Valery Afanasiev's business card the QR leads to the page, and on a phone it is replaced by an "Add to contacts" button.
Common problems
- A QR opening too much to strangers. The customer-card link gives nothing to an outsider: the bot checks permissions and refuses.
- Never cover someone else's QR. A policy carries the insurer's QR code, and the bot never covers it with its own blocks.
When you do not need it
If the person is already on the page on their phone, a QR is useless; a button is what they need. That is exactly how the business card works: a button instead of the code on phones.
