What it is
The domain is the site address (devunit-lab.business). DNS records say which server it points to, where to receive mail and who may send mail on its behalf. The domain is always registered to the client, never to the contractor.
How we use it
We check the domain is owned by the client and set up A, MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC records and the verification records for search-engine dashboards.
Where it matters to a business
- The site address is part of the brand and must belong to the company, not the contractor.
- Customers type the address with a typo or in another script and do not find the site.
- The domain needs mail that does not land in spam.
How we use it
- The domain belongs to the client. We check that the domain is registered to the client and set up A, MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records plus verification records for webmaster tools.
- One main address. «Дыхание Поволжья» runs on a Cyrillic domain, and the Latin-letter and typo domains lead to it with a permanent redirect.
- Domains by role. On the VPN route one domain carries traffic, a second serves subscriptions, and the admin panel is not on a public domain. Changing the traffic domain is one command with no sessions dropped.
- Domain mail. Our own mail on the websites server runs on the studio's domain.
Common problems
- A domain registered to a former contractor: the site can be lost along with it.
- Every domain on one IP. If the address is blocked, all domains go down at once; that is the limit of the design.
- A forgotten renewal. A domain is renewed every year, and an expired address can go to someone else.
When you do not need it
The owner does not have to understand the records. What is essential: the domain is in your name and you have access to its control panel.
